Part 1: The best of the community community
Five resources to like, comment, download, and share from 2022
Though I left technology a few months ago, I remain connected to the community industry through the participants in my Community Feelings Support Groups. Watching community builders in these small groups solve problems and seize opportunities teaches me a lot. Some of these members, like Emily, who leads the Patreon community, and Katherine, a leader on the Airbnb community team, rarely post publicly about their work. So whenever I see someone posting their expertise, I save the link so I can share it! I hope you'll check out these resources and links you may have missed.
1. Must Read: Check out Krystal Wu in Vox’s Why brands are obsessed with building community
And if you aren’t following Krystal on Twitter or Linkedin, you really are missing out on some helpful (and sometimes hot) takes.
2. Must watch: Where Creativity Meets Community
Emily has joined nearly ever community session for leaders, always truly collaborative and shared so much behind the curtain at Patreon to others in the group.
3. Must download (for free!): GET SELF-ORGANIZED: A GUIDE FOR CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURS
Jane Claire Hervey is another member who has been so generous with her time and frameworks. You can crawl into her delightful mind and uncover some of your own genius by checking out her guide for creative entrepreneurs here.
4. Two for One: Katherine Morillo on Learning From Your F*ckups (by Bri Leever)
I love when I can introduce epic community builders to each other! When I saw this article on Katherine Morillo by Bri Leever, I was delighted. Not only does Kathy have so much wisdom to share, but Bri’s content this year is on fire. Don’t miss this profile!
5. Must Comment: Amanda’s keys to unlocking success
Amanda is methodically building an active, supportive community over at ButcherBox. I’m so glad she found our group! She shares a few tips on LinkedIn here. Drop a comment and let her know what you think.
Part 2 coming in the first week of January! Until then, I hope you find a few soft and cozy spots to decompress and recharge over the holidays.
XO,
Danielle
